During the private dining experience created by Chef Cate Hardman and A Taste of Flinders team you will marvel at both the exceptional food and breath taking landscapes of Flinders Island. Cate is dedicated to preparing fresh, seasonal and local produce. Her professional background spans 35 years both in Australia and overseas. From city restaurants, to cafes and wineries throughout the country and in her own catering business, her philosophy of food has remained the same, keep it fresh, simple and delicious.
I know the weather was perfect on the day but so was everything else and had the weather been ordinary everything would still have been perfect.
The setting of the table for 15 people on the veranda of a shack at Killiecrankie Bay, set with crisp linen and lots of cutlery and wine glasses suggesting a banquet was about to happen, was a complete surprise and the view quite breathtaking. Not a breath of air, blue sky and turquoise water.
The lunch was purely Flinders Island produce… including scallops, wallaby, Tasmanian trumpeter, lamb cutlets, slow roasted lamb with a beautiful crunchy vegetable salad and homemade cheesecake with a berry coulis. Every bit of the entire menu was deliciously mouthwatering! The wines that accompanied this were of course all from local Tasmanian vineyards.
The whole Flinders experience will be in one’s memory forever and now all we want to do is return for longer and visit this little piece of heaven and experience more of what the island can offer.Odile Foster
